Matt gets back to his Off-key best with four supreme cuts of oblique techno for the dark room in the back of the club. ’Origin’ takes you by the hand and leads you there, its taught energy and insistent rhythm vying with a restless, contorting synth refrain. Out of nowhere, ‘Hard Ears’ lurches up to you, mumbling incoherently as sweat drips from the ceiling into its wide & unblinking eyes. Your head clears slightly as ‘Come Correct’ ramps up the energy with a heaving off-kilter break beat, pew-pew lasers and synth stabs that cut through blinding strobes. Rounding off the night is ’Sax Machina’, lulling you with a kiss of sweet sax before twisting your head sideways with a heavy dose of evil acid.
